In order to create a commodity market around data, a set of rules is needed: Data, usage, and provenance are captured and verified through semantic descriptions.

Cryptographic methods prove data integrity, usage rights and provenance.

Blockchain technologies are used to guarantee immutability. An audit trail from data source and applied processing steps provide a complete documentation and full reproducibility.

Use Cases

Data Donation

Individuals provide data for free via a portal (sample implementation) and control the allowed usage. Additionally, donated data can be tracked and results are made available.

Example: collect GPS data from your phone and support a study to evaluate the quality of Google Maps route recommendations

Providing Data

Organizations make data available using Semantic Containers as light-weight distribution platform.

Examples: ZAMG provides data about seismic activities for free; a bank makes account statemens available in the course of the Payment Service Directive

Selling Data

Establish a data-flow between individuals and corporations allowing individuals to monetize their own data and corporations to access data in a GDPR-compliant way.

Example: a group of people collect and anonymize medical data that is sought by the pharmaceutical industry to comply with new regulations regarding real world evidence
